GOOD TIPS FOR NEW HEALTHY HABITS

When many of us are going to lose weight, we automatically think of dieting. The idea of eating healthy to lose weight evokes images of eating really boring and not good at all - and a lot of focus is on what we can no longer eat if we are to lose weight. Sometimes, however, a more positive attitude can help. Instead of panicking about the foods you have to give up, why not incorporate lots of different and interesting foods into your diet, chances are you will be pleasantly surprised and maybe there is not the same craving for the useless things anymore?

If you want to create healthy eating habits - whether it's for weight loss or for some other reason - one of the best things you can do is focus on what you are allowed to eat. Here are some positive tips to make healthy eating a habit.

WHOLE GRAIN

This does not mean that you only replace your white bread with purchased whole wheat bread. It may be a start, but the world of barley is quite varied. Try to incorporate a new whole grain-based dish into your meals every week. Some grains to try are:

* Hirs

* Quinoa

* Brown rice

* Basmati brown rice (has a popcorn-like taste)

* Wheat berries

Adding these foods to your diet can be a fun challenge. You can integrate them into homemade breads and muffins and pots or turn them into barley bread. They can be cooked into soups or eaten with just a few spices. Wheat berries can germinate. Get creative with all the grains!

MEAT AND FISH

Look at lean turkey, chicken, fish and beef. When you integrate these into your diet, you may well discover that there is no longer room for fatty steaks, burgers and other less healthy pieces of meat. You can fry a turkey breast on Sunday and then use the leftover lean meat during the week for snacks and lunches. Lean beef can be made into shish kabobs, fajitas and other tasty dishes.

Fish is surprisingly versatile, baked, fried or grilled fish can be combined with all kinds of tasty sauces and spice combinations.

VEGETABLES AND FRUIT

Of course, it is important to add more of these important foods to your diet. A combination of raw and cooked is probably best. At meals, you can try to get out of the mentality of "a vegetable" or "a fruit" as an accompaniment to your meal. Do not be afraid to have salad, fruit and a cooked vegetable at a meal.

You may also not have explored the area of interesting and unusual vegetables. Jicama, celery root, fennel, leeks and fresh beets can be foods you have not tried before. Fruits also come in a fantastic variety - try kumquats, star fruits, unusual melons, papayas, and so on.

VEGETABLES AND BEANS

Getting protein from beans and legumes is a very healthy habit to get into. Beans contain all kinds of important nutrients, and they are naturally low in fat and high in fiber. You can make bean dip, butter and stews; you can eat them cooked and baked. Green beans can be steamed and tossed with tasty herbs and spices, and crispbreads can be fried.

Now that you have added all these good foods to your diet, you may not have room for those fatty snacks anymore!

Good luck!
